Annular Solar Eclipse of October 03, 2005

FALSE COLOR N17_04nov12_1001 Oct 03, 2005, 09:43 UTC On Monday, October 03, an annular eclipse of the Sun could have been observed from within a narrow corridor which traversed the Iberian Peninsula and stretched across the African continent. Twilight fell over Libya at mid-day during the NOAA-17 overpass. The normally pink and tan tones of the desert took on a deep brown colour in the dim light along the edge of the Moon's shadow. At 09:43 a.m. local time, the shadow was just passing over Libya when the satellite captured the image.
